Some students on a Student visa are eligible to bring dependents (spouse/partner and children). Eligibility depends on the course level, duration, and your visa type.
You must prove you can cover:
Tuition fees for at least the first year (or full course if under 12 months)
Living expenses: ~£1,334/month in London or £1,023/month outside London (for up to 9 months)
For long-term programs, you’ll need a Student visa. Short-term courses may require a Standard Visitor visa. Your university’s CAS (Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies) will confirm the correct option.
You can apply up to six months before your course starts. Applying early ensures ample time for processing, scheduling a biometrics appointment, and handling any unexpected delays.
Typical documents include:
Passport and CAS letter
Evidence of funds for tuition and living costs
English language test results (if required)
TB certificate (for specific countries)
Passport-sized photos
